What are the server specifications?

  • Server Specifications

    Depending on the size of the property and desired topology delivery, these are the desired server requirements. These servers can be both physical and virtual deployments.

    “Low-end” Server Specifications

    Server prerequisites for a “light” install of eConnect that is designed to handle a maximum of 30 POS terminals.

    Hardware Requirements:

    • CPU: Intel Xeon processor 3 GHz or greater
    • RAM: 8 GB or greater
    • 100 Mbps or faster network interface
    • 100 GB for primary partition 1 – Operating System, eConnect Application, Logs, etc
    • 1 TB or more for secondary partition1 – Data
      • 500 GB for database 2
      • 500 GB for case files and video2
    • Video storage volumes (if applicable)
      • Contact your eConnect representative to calculate your storage needs

    1 All storage partitions must be configured RAID 1 (preferably with hot spare).

    Software Requirements:

    • OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 or later.
    • Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express or Standard
      Externally IT managed Database server is acceptable, and reduces the costs of SQL Standard if MSSQL Server Standard is already available at the property. If external databases are used, the storage for the databases are not required on the server. See section “Application Only Server Specification”

    “Midgrade” Server Specifications

    Server prerequisites for a “mid-grade” install of eConnect 6 that is designed to handle a maximum of 100 POS terminals..

    Hardware Requirements:

    • CPU: Intel Xeon processor 3 GHz or greater  (4+ cores w/HT)
    • RAM: 16 GB or greater
    • 1 Gbps or faster network interface
    • 100 GB for primary partition1 – Operating System, eConnect Application, Logs, etc
    • 1 TB or more for secondary partition1 – Data
      • 500 GB for database2
      • 500 GB for case files and video2
    • Video storage volumes (if applicable)
      • Contact your eConnect representative to calculate your storage needs

      • OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 or later.

  • Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard or later

If external databases are used, the storage for the databases are not required on the server. See section “Application Only Server Specification”

  • “Enterprise” Server Specifications

    Server prerequisites for an “Enterprise” grade install of eConnect that is designed for systems using Casino Connect or supporting more than 100 POS terminals, Casino Ratings or Baccarat. It is recommended to deploy using a multi-server approach with these integrations. The server that does the data collection should be on the network that is closest to data creators (IE, casino systems, etc).  See topology options in section above. If a single server deployment is desired, the below specifications are requested:

    Hardware Requirements:

    • CPU: Dual Intel Xeon processors 3 GHz or greater  (8+ cores w/HT)
    • 32 GB RAM or greater
    • 1 Gbps or faster network interface (Teamed is preferred)
    • 100 GB for primary partition 1 – Operating System, eConnect Application, Logs, etc
    • 2 TB or more for secondary partition1 – Data
      • 1.5 TB for database 2
      • 500 GB for case files and video2
    • Video storage volumes (if applicable)
      • Contact your eConnect representative to calculate your storage needs

    Software Requirements:

      • OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.

  • Database: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Standard or later
  • Externally IT managed Database server is acceptable, and reduces the costs of SQL Standard if MSSQL Server Standard is already available at the property. If external databases are used, the storage for the databases are not required on the server. See section “Application Only Server Specification”

  • Application Only Server Specifications

    If the eConnect databases are hosted on an external SQL server, eConnect’s application server can be hosted on a server with less demanding server requirements.  This can be a physical server or virtual server.

    Hardware Requirements:

    • CPU: 4 Core for POS only, 8+ if including casino products
    • RAM: 8 for POS Only, 16 GB or greater if including casino products
    • 1 Gbps or faster network interface
    • 1 Gbps or faster with network access to Surveillance network (could be routed, could be an alternate adapter).
    • 100 GB for primary partition – Operating System, eConnect Application, Logs, etc
    • 500 GB or more for secondary partition 1 – Data
      • 500 GB for case files and video2
    • Video storage volumes (if applicable)
      • Contact your eConnect representative to calculate your storage needs

    Software Requirements:

    • OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.

    External SQL Server Requirements:

    • : DB: SQL Server 2012 R2 (minimum). Desired: Latest and greatest

    Database Storage Options

    Self-hosted SQL Databases:

    If preferred, the eConnect application databases can be hosted on a separate Microsoft SQL Server.  These databases need to be accessible from the eConnect server at all times.

    Self-hosted Database Requirements:

    • The following databases created:
      • eConnect_Core
      • eConnect_Pos
      • eConnect_Cases
      • eConnect_Cameras
      • eConnect_Casino (if applicable)
      • eConnect_Baccarat (if applicable)
    • A DB user with “db_owner” permissions on all eConnect databases
    • CLR enabled for CLR Types (optional, but requested for ease of deployment)
    • Optionally can use Active Directory Service user for db access. This increases security by not having any usernames or passwords stored in any config files.

    Video Case Storage Options

    One feature of the eConnect software is the ability to save incident video to a Windows shared folder over the network. If you would prefer to have all exported cases and video saved to a network share instead of the eConnect Server’s internal drives it can be setup on request.

    Network Storage Requirements:

    • A Windows file share must be marked as “shared” and accessible from the eConnect Server.
    • A user and password must be assigned to the folder and information given to your eConnect representative.

    eConnect MediaTubes Archiver Requirements

    If eConnect is providing bulk video archiving services, then the server running MediaTubes (eConnect’s in-house video software) should meet the following minimal requirements and be adjusted as necessary to accommodate the number of video sources, video resolutions, and video formats in use.  Contact your eConnect representative for assistance in this regard.

    Minimal Hardware Requirements:

    • Intel Xeon processor 3 GHz or greater
    • 8 GB RAM or greater
    • 1 Gbps or faster network interface
    • 80 GB for primary partition1 – Operating System
    • Adequate video storage2

    1 Partition must be configured with redundancy

    2 Video storage should be RAID configured according to the desired level of failure protection.

    Software Requirements:

    • OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2.
